आँखें टटोलतीं है
एक अप्रतिम चित्ताकर्षक चेहरा
- जो प्रसन्न-वदन हो
- जो ओस की नमी और गुलाब की ताजगी से भरी हो
- जो ओज, विश्वास और आत्मीयता से परिपूर्ण
- जो बचपन सा निष्पाप
- जो योगी सा कान्तिमय और
- जो धरती-सी करुणामयी हो
कहाँ मिलेगा पूरे ब्रह्मांड में ऐसा चेहरा -
मैं खोजता हूँ
बारंबार खोजता हूँ
देखता हूँ -
एक चेहरा - झुर्रियों से पटा हुआ
एक चेहरा - कलियों सी शोख पर तमतमाया और जर्द
एक दु:ख और रूआँसा का चेहरा है
एक चेहरे पर नकाब लगा है
एक का चेहरा अहंकार से सना है
एक का चेहरा तृषाग्नि में झुलसा है
कहीं चेहरे से प्रतिशोध और प्रतिरोध की ज्वालाएँ उठ रही हैं
तो कहीं हिंसा-प्रतिहिंसा की मुद्राएँ तमक रही हैं
इन असंख्य चेहरों के बीच
वह चेहरा कहाँ पाऊँगा
जो एक आदमी का असली चेहरा होता है ?
