काठ-घर बेतला में ठहरा हूँ
संध्या उतर रही है पहाड़ी छोर पर सब ओर
हिरण दौड़ रहे हैं नेशनल पार्क के खुले मैदान की ओर
जबकि जाना चाहिए था उन्हें घने जंगलों में
गाईड ने बताया शिकार के डर से
हर शाम वे चले आते हैं यहाँ
जहाँ फटक नहीं पाते शिकारी
न तान पाते अपनी बंदूकें इन पर
इन हिरणों को डर नहीं अब बाघ से
डरते हैं सिर्फ आदमी,यानि आदमजात शिकारी से
गाईड ने खूब घुमाया पार्क वन्य में इधर-उधर
जंगली हाथियों की तलाश में हमें
पर कहीं न दिखा हाथियों का दल
कई कहानियाँ भी गढ़ी हाथियों के रोज़ दिखने की
फिर मेरे चेहरे के उतरते भाव को पढ़ा
कुछ जंगली भैसे दिखे और बार-बार गाईड
हाथियों की दुहाई देता रहा
बड़ी मुश्किल से एक मोर और एक चील दिखा
जो जीप की आवाज सुन बीहड़ वन में प्रवेश कर गया
शैलानियों की सुविधा के नाम पर वन्य मार्ग पर यत्र-तत्र
दिखे कटे अनगिन सागवान के पेड़
और दूर-दूर तक सपाट होता जंगल
फिर भी खुश हूँ कि
काठ – घर में ठहरा हूँ अपने मित्र के साथ बेतला
के नेशनल पार्क में
पूरे संतोष से कि कुछ तो है आज भी इस अभयारण्य में जो
बेतला के बहाने इस उष्मयी साँझ को
जून के पावस में डुबोकर
क्लांत वन-गाथा को बयां कर रही है |
